I started much later than most of my friends, and while it has gotten slightly better over time, it's still significantly difficult, mostly due to my lack of experience. I have also found that dating has become so much harder now that I'm in my late 20s. I feel like I don't even have anywhere I could start, and the apps have been somewhat merciless to me and I'd rather avoid that. I have loads of friends and I'm a very social person, I try to go out at least once a week, but never in my life have I ever managed even to strike up a conversation with a girl while out in the city. I have a very wide variety of hobbies, however, none of them allow me to meet girls: I'm into philosophy/sociology and history, however, most of the reading groups here are in the university, and while you can come to some of the seminars even if you're not a student, trying to hit on girls there is a BIG no-no. Besides, most of these reading groups are 90% male, with an occasional girl who's most often just someone's GF. I paint and am very much into graffiti. 99% of the community is just dudes and besides you want to stay anonymous anyway so it's a pretty poor avenue for meeting new people. I train 5 times a week, I also do BJJ but it's 100% dudes, plus hitting on girls in grappling classes is an extra level of creepy considering how physical it is. I make music and play a couple of instruments, but all of my musician friends are dudes and there isn't really an avenue for meeting people this way, as there aren't any public jam sessions or stuff like that where I live. I also write but have no clue how this could help. I feel like I have quite a lot going for me, and would love to meet someone I can form a stable relationship with, but I feel like I'm effectively invisible to the opposite gender.
