I've been trying to use the apps for the past month or so in a rural area and I'm getting only 1-2 matches per week despite a 50mile radius, however when posting on a different sub on what I'm doing wrong I was mostly just thrown compliment fishing accusations / told there's nothing wrong. This leaves me wondering if OLD is just a ghost town at this point, any similar experiences?

I feel like over the last few years ghosting has become just a social norm of dating. Around 5 Years ago, I remember reading post bashing it as being a crappy thing, however most people now bash the person who been ghosted as being weak" and "too attached" “If you’re upset about being ghosted, that’s your problem,†“You shouldn’t be so invested in someone you barely know" and “Stop being needy—just move on.†I know the argument that You can not ghost someone you have not met and ghosting is not that bad etc etc. I must admit, there has been times I have ghosted, but that is for a safety reason, which I feel like ghosting is more acceptable and maybe if you chatted for a week or 2 and never met up and naturally the chat ends. However, More people just end seeing people with ghosting. Agree a date and time? Just ghost. First date went bad? Just ghost. Had a change of mind? Just ghost. I joined Breeze lately, a dating apps where if you ghost your account can be frozen for a period of time. I just feel like ghosting has become super acceptable and its rather a grim cultural desensitization of a really horrible, brutal and nasty way to sometimes end stuff.
